Capitol Hill Homes
North of the TransCanada highway can be found the Capitol Hill community. Located in the immediate vicinity of the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), as well as some of Calgary’s major transportation outlets, positions it as a commuter neighborhood.
Capitol Hill Community
The Capitol Hill community is an old one, initially established in 1948. Although a raft of new homes have begun to spring up, the majority of homes are bungalows and low rise buildings from the 1950s. In recent times, though, many of these older homes are being torn down in favor of infills and semi-detached homes. No less than 60 detached family homes were sold in 2017 in Capitol Hill for an average price of $600,000. Each of these homes spent 40 days on average on the market.
The Capitol Hill community consists of mainly detached single family homes, apartments and low rise condos. These homes are a blend of plush upscale homes and middling moderately priced varieties. As you edge closer to 16 Avenue, you will find homes available on the lower pricing ladder. Close proximity to the University has brought about a large student community here.
